Gd. Brykina et al., CHROMATOGRAPHIC PROPERTIES OF SOME PORPHYRIN LIGANDS AND THEIR METAL-COMPLEXES, Journal of analytical chemistry, 52(5), 1997, pp. 437-440
The behavior of some porphyrin ligands (pheophytins a and b, protoporp
hyrin IX, protoporphyrin IX dimethyl ester, 1,4,5,8-tetramethylporphyr
in, and tetraphenylporphyrin) and their metal (Mg, Zn, Cu, Pd, Pt, and
Pb) complexes is studied under the conditions of reversed-phase high-
performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Data on the separation of po
rphyrin ligands and their metal complexes by HPLC are presented, and t
he mechanisms of the sorbate-sorbent-eluant interactions are considere
d. It is demonstrated that the chromatographic retention parameters of
pigments depend on the structural features of the porphyrin moiety. T
he results can be useful for the development of a unified rational sys
tem for seeking efficient eluants for the analysis of porphyrins by HP
LC.
