The O-C curve of the RS CVn-type binary system, AR Lac, has been analyzed u
sing the method of Kalimeris et al. It is shown that the orbital period of
the system is modulated with a long period of 47 years and an amplitude of
1.56 x 10(-5) d, while undergoing a constant decrease. Possible physical me
chanisms for the variations are investigated. The observed variations may b
e caused by a combination of a magnetic activity cycle in the secondary com
ponent and an orbital angular momentum loss due to magnetic braking.
