Vi. Davydenko et al., MEASUREMENTS OF FAST-ION PARAMETERS IN THE GDL DEVICE BY MEANS OF AN AUXILIARY TARGET, Plasma physics reports, 23(5), 1997, pp. 396-399
Neutral-particle diagnostics is widely used to measure parameters of f
ast ions in the GDL gasdynamic confinement system. In the present work
, the diagnostic complex for measuring local ion energy and pitch-angl
e distribution functions is described. A pulsed neutral beam with a hi
gh equivalent-current density is injected into the plasma. The beam pr
oduces a local target at which the charge exchange of fast ions occurs
. Parameters of the flux of secondary charge-exchange atoms are measur
ed with the scanning electrostatic analyzer. The equivalent current de
nsity of the neutral flux in the produced target ranges up to 0.8 A/cm
(2), which makes it possible to carry out measurements during the inje
ction of heating neutral beams with energies 14-16 keV and total power
up to 4 MW.
