Abstract
Spectroscopic investigations of Cr3+ doped ZAPH are carried out. From the n ature of optical absorption bands and their splittings at the liquid nitrog en temperature, the site symmetry of the Cr3+ in ZAPH is attributed to orth orhombic distortion.
