Abstract
Exact expressions are presented for the correction terms for the one-d imensional fin tip temperature and heat lost when the insulated tip as sumption is used for the convective tip case. Both straight rectangula r and uniformly thick annular fin geometries are discussed. Numerical examples are shown. For some conditions in these examples, sizable cor rections are needed, which increase as the Biot number decreases.
