Abstract
GDP is expected to grow by 6 per cent in 1999-2000, the same as last year, but a major qualitative change expected this year is the possible recovery in the manufacturing sector after three years of sluggish growth; the impet us to recovery seems to have originated in increased availability of bank f inance.
