N. Thomas et al., MEASUREMENT OF PERMEATING LEVELS OF CRYOPROTECTANT DURING OVARIAN TISSUE CRYOPRESERVATION USING H-1-NMR SPECTROSCOPY IN HUMAN AND PORCINE OVARIES, Cryo-letters, 18(3), 1997, pp. 179-184
The concentrations of dimethyl sulphoxide in ovarian tissues of porcin
e and human origin, during a standard cryopreservation procedure, were
measured by H-1 NMR spectroscopy. Results suggested that tissue loadi
ng and elution of the cryoprotectant were similar in tissues from both
sources. The final concentrations of dimethyl sulphoxide achieved usi
ng the protocol were only approximately 50% of the theoretical maximum
if full equilibration with tissue water had taken place. The results
are discussed in relation to the response of ovarian tissue to cryopre
servation.
