Abstract
We examined the effects of single or repeated stress on the expression of m RNA for alpha(1)-adrenoceptors in the rat hypothalamus and midbrain using t he reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Single stress significantly increased the mRNA. level for alpha(1)-adrenoceptors in the m idbrain, but had no effect on mRNA levels in the hypothalamus. Repeated str ess significantly decreased mRNA levels for alpha(1)-adrenoceptors in both regions. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
