A beta-delayed proton activity with a half-life of 1.2 +/- 0.2 s was assign
ed to Ru-89 on the basis of a p-gamma(X) coincidence measurement in the rea
ction of Ni-58 (Ar-36, 2p3n) using a He-jet tape transport system. The meas
ured delayed-proton spectrum of Ru-89 and relative proton branching ratios
to the low-lying states in Mo-88 were compared with statistical model calcu
lations.
