Abstract
The CEC Research Award recognizes researchers for the significant contribut ions they have made to special education. We believe that the members of th is distinguished group have much to share with our readers. We have invited ! each of them to contribute an article, addressing their perspectives on s pecial education research and practices. Juniper Gardens Children's Project (JGCP) was awarded the Research Award in 1996, recognizing 35 years of res earch in special education and its seminal rob in producing best practices, tools, and critical knowledge for educating students dt risk with disablin g conditions. This article by Charles Greenwood and colleagues at Juniper G ardens presents their thoughts about the motivating conditions, goals works , and aspirations of JGCP.
