Abstract
Defatted soy flour with a membrane-bound epoxide hydrolase was used fo r the conversion on a preparative scale of 9,10-epoxy-octadecanoic aci d, 9,10-epoxy-12-hydroxy-octadecanoic acid and 12,13-epoxy-9-octadecen oic acid (vernolic acid) into their 1,2-diols. The products might be u sed in coatings, lubricants or for the synthesis of fine chemicals.
