Abstract
Apparent and intrinsic kinetic parameters of substrate decomposition w ere estimated from the profiles of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and vo latile fatty acids (VFA) concentrations along the length of the horizo ntal-flow anaerobic immobilized sludge (HAIS) reactor. The first order substrate utilization kinetic model describes well the experimental d ata.
