A method of secure communication based on the inversion of a chaotic dynami
cal system is analyzed. The approach does not require chaotic synchronizati
on of two or several oscillators to be used. The influence of noise in the
communication channel and parameter mismatch on the quality of decoded sign
al is discussed. The feasibility of the approach is demonstrated by the exa
mples of nonautonomous pendulum equation and autonomous Rossler oscillator.
