The electro-rheological (ER) responses of suspensions with cation exchange
resin particles and polyaniline particles were measured under different exp
erimental conditions such as the strength of applied electric field, the vi
scosity of continuous phase, the shear rate, and the volume fraction of par
ticles. The ER response became faster as the strength of applied electric f
ield, the shear rate, and the volume fraction of particles increased while i
t became slower as the viscosity of continuous phase increased, These resul
ts were discussed: in terms of the electrical and hydrodynamic interactions
, as well as the chance of collision among particles.
