Sequence specific interaction of the photoactive drug hypericin depends onthe structural arrangement and the stability of the structure containing its specific 5 ' AG3 ' target: A resonance Raman spectroscopy study
E. Kocisova et al., Sequence specific interaction of the photoactive drug hypericin depends onthe structural arrangement and the stability of the structure containing its specific 5 ' AG3 ' target: A resonance Raman spectroscopy study, J BIO STRUC, 17(1), 1999, pp. 51-59
The resonance Raman spectra of three oligonucleotides with different length
s containing a specific 5'AG3' target doubler for hypericin - a potent anti
retroviral and anticancer photoactive agent, and their 1:1 and I:2(oligonuc
leotide : hypericin) complexes are reported. It is shown that the structura
l arrangement of the oligonucleotides, their structural stability and the l
ocal structural arrangement around the 5'AG3' hypericin taro,er, are the fa
ctors which determine the formation of a stable, specifically bounded DNA-h
ypericin complexes.
