The (2) (1)Sigma(g)(+) state of the potassium dimer has been observed up to
upsilon " = 30 in laser-induced fluorescence spectra of the C (1)Pi(u) -->
(2) (1)Sigma(g)(+) system of K-39(2) which were recorded by Fourier transf
orm spectrometry. Equilibrium constants in cm(-1) are T-e = 14342.69(9), om
ega(e) = 47.965(9), omega(e)x(e) = -0.051(5) and B-e = 0.033 00(4). The lon
g-range part of the potential curve is predicted from asymptotic Coulombic
and exchange parameters, revealing that the (2) (1)Sigma(g)(+) state is bet
ter described in Hund's case (c) notation (0(g)(+)) beyond R = 8.5 Angstrom
.
