Unsymmetrically substituted binuclear phthalocyanine derivatives 8 and 9 ha
ve been synthesized by mixed condensation of nickel(II) dicyanophthalocyani
ne 6 with dioctyloxyphthalonitrile 7 in the presence of either nickel(II) o
r zinc(II) chloride. In addition, a heterotrinuclear phthalocyanine-triazol
ehemiporphyrazine-phthalocyanine complex 16 has been obtained using the met
hodology described earlier for the preparation of heterobinuclear phthalocy
anine-triazolehemiporphyrazine systems (13a-13e). All these compounds exhib
it in their UV-vis spectra broad and split Q bands that are shifted to the
near-IR in comparison with mononuclear phthalocyanines as a consequence of
