Abstract
The title compound, which was obtained by an in situ conversion of diacetyl melamine to melamine in the presence of copper(II) nitrate, appears to be t he first structurally characterised example of a melamine complex with dire ct metal-melamine bonding; complexes are linked via N-H ... O and O-H ... N hydrogen bonds to form sheets.
