Abstract
AFP plays a role as an immunosuppressor. It inhibits T-cell blast transform ation in response to mitogen and allogeneic lymphocyte stimulation and supp resses antibody response. AFP also inhibits phagocytosis of blood monocytes and macrophages. it stimulates a subset of T-cell suppressors, suppresses NK cells activity, and has an inhibitory effect on autoimmune diseases.
