Abstract
A series of associated gill rakers from the M-U Jurassic of northern Chile is assigned to the giant pachycormid fish Leedsichthys notocetes n. sp., di agnosed by possession of distinctive Sill rakers in which a series of fenes trae are present along the lateral margin of the ramus beneath a series of plications on the dental border. This is the first time that this genus has been reported from the Southern Hemisphere and is further evidence for a p roto North Atlanto-Pacific marine faunal province in the Jurassic.
