NEUES JAHRBUCH FUR GEOLOGIE UND PALAONTOLOGIE-MONATSHEFTE
In addition to the well-known crushing tooth and the hypothetical ceratinou
s sieving apparatus Henodus had a biting dentition in the front part of the
jaw which was unknown so far. Its very small teeth are densely spaced and
probably had to be replaced as one set. This may have forced the animals to
hibernate which is in good accordance with the current model of the Gipske
uper-facies.
