Abstract
The phylogenetic position of Epimorphoceras decorum (WAAGEN) known only fro m a monotypic holotype is contentious. Some workers have placed it in the R eineckeiidae, others assigned it to the Morphoceratidae or the Parkinsoniid ae. A reineckeiid affinity is contested mainly on the grounds of morphologi cal and stratigraphic incompatibility. A restudy of the holotype after a ga p of more than 60 years reveals close morphological and stratigraphical cor respondence with the morphoceratids.
