Abstract
Studies of the heating effect of 8 GeV/c pi(-) and antiproton beams inciden t on a Au-197 nucleus have been conducted at Brookhaven AGS accelerator wit h the Indiana Silicon Sphere 4 pi detector array. Enhanced energy depositio n for antiprotons relative to negative pions and protons in this energy reg ime is observed. The results are consistent with predictions of an intranuc lear cascade code.
