The purpose of this paper is to present a case study of the perspectives of
their role of a group of community lecturer-practitioners and a community
teacher, who referred to themselves as 'community facilitators'. A qualitat
ive design was used and data were collected by semi-structured interviews.
These were transcribed and content analysis was undertaken. All participant
s provided a liaison role between the college and the community practitione
rs, prepared students for their clinical experience and assisted in relatin
g theory to practice. The participants described how they managed the role
and how they supported each other. Developing small teams of facilitators m
ay provide a bridge between teachers and practitioners and can serve as a b
asis for further study of the lecturer-practitioner role.
