K. Cho et T. Ikawa, Enhancement mechanisms of radiation-matter interaction in various arrangements of resonant objects, PHYS ST S-B, 215(1), 1999, pp. 281-285
A systematic study is made by means of a microscopic nonlocal response theo
ry about the enhancement mechanisms of the optical signals of resonant matt
er units in various arrangements, where the lattice constant in one directi
on allows Bragg scattering. Considering that the radiative decay width is a
general measure of the coupling strength, we study (a) its size-enhancemen
t and saturation, (b) its speed-up effect due to Bragg scattering, and (c)
a super-enhancement effect due to the combination of (a) and (b).
