Wave-turbulence instability in nonequilibrium hydrodynamics systems

The problem of interaction between a large-scale wave and the small-scale w ave-induced turbulence in nonequilibrium systems of hydrodynamic type is co nsidered. The results of numerical analysis of the model of the turbulence- wave interaction in the hydrodynamic medium tan interior gravity wave + tur bulence in a stratified fluid with a sheer flow) and in plasma tan ion-soun d wave + the Lengmuir turbulence) are presented. It is shown that significa nt mutual amplification of the wave and turbulence is possible at some valu es of the parameters. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
