Abstract
The spin correlation coefficient combinations S equivalent to A(xx) + A(yy) , D equivalent to A(xx) - A(yy) and the analyzing powers A(y)(theta) were m easured for (P) over right arrow (P) over right arrow --> pn pi(+) at beam energies of 325, 350, 375 and 400 MeV. A polarized internal atomic hydrogen target and a stored, polarized proton beam were used. These polarization o bservables are sensitive to contributions of higher partial waves. A compar ison with recent theoretical calculations is provided. (C) 1999 Published b y Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
