Abstract
Reaction between substituted benzanilides and benzonitriles in the presence of PCl5 + AlCl3 in nitrobenzene yielded methyl- and nitro-substituted 2,4- diarylquinazolines. The nitro derivatives were subsequently reduced to the corresponding amines.
