Uterine arteriovenous malformation - Value of color Doppler sonography andMRI

Uterine arteriovenous malformation is an uncommon condition which may prese nt with abdominal pain, urinary symptoms, cardiac failure or vaginal bleedi ng. We report the case of a 56 year old Saudi lady who had near catastrophi c bleeding following curettage at an earlier presentation, before the adven t of color Doppler sonography. Color Doppler ultrasound and Magnetic Resona nce Imaging features of this condition are described, and we highlight the importance of appropriate imaging of the pelvis before curettage is perform ed.
