Abstract
In this paper a 3-D mathematical model has been attempted with a view to im proving the cell efficiency in the Hall-Heroult process of aluminium smelti ng. It this regard magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) play important role and so fa r in the literature a derailed mathematical model taking into account all t he electromagnetic parameters is not available. Electrical potential. curre nt density. magnetic flux density and MHD force fields including interfacia l phenomena between electrodes/electrolyte and electrolyte/molten aluminium have, thus, been incorporated in derivation of proposed model.
