Abstract
Based on carbon and carbon equivalent of the alloying elements, weldability map has been developed for low alloy steels. and the preheat temperature c ontours have been drawn using Seferian type of equation. Considering the he at flow, the heat input and the preheat temperature of the weld plate are r elated and transferred to the weldability map to include the heat input val ues and the cooling time contours in the map.
