The working properties of a tile adhesive with and without elastomer compon
ent are examined as a function of the water/solids ratio. The classical sli
ppage behaviour of test tiles has been correlated with the rheological para
meters of yield value, and storage and loss moduli. For the tile adhesive c
onsidered it was found that without an elastomer component the distribution
requires less effort and is also compatible with a higher water/solids rat
io. With elastification, on the other hand, more force has to be applied fo
r the distribution, and at the same time this system can take less water an
d is significantly less stable to an increased W/S ratio.
