Abstract
A new polymer for the extraction and luminescence analysis of uranyl in env ironmental samples is presented. High extraction efficiencies (above 90%) o f uranyl concentrations as low as part-per-billion were obtained in water a nd acidic solutions. The presence of concomitants in water samples did not affect the extraction capability of the new material. The luminescence char acteristics of the uranyl-polymer complex demonstrate the potential for the development of a uranium phosphorescence sensor. (C)1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
