Abstract
This article discusses neuropsychology within the Spanish-speaking would; i t reviews its recent history, existing efforts, and future directions. It a lso addresses the practice of neuropsychology with Hispanics in the United States and posits that ii should take into account the heterogeneity of thi s population (the largest minority group in the country). Hispanic heteroge neity includes, among other variables, ethnicity, language, acculturation, age and education. Data from current research suggest that these nle releva nt variables affecting the psychometrics of cognition and therefore, the pr actice of neuropsychology with this population. Suggestions for future rese arch are also addressed. (C) 1999 National Academy of Neuropsychology. Publ ished by Elsevier Science Ltd.
