Rm. Alguliev, Method of selecting the optimal structure of a distributed authentication system in virtual private networks, AUTOM C C S, 33(3), 1999, pp. 12-21
One of the important problems that arise in attempting to create virtual pr
ivate networks is that of implementing the function of identification and a
uthentication of users. In the present article questions related to the con
struction of a distributed authentication system in such a network are cons
idered. A method is proposed by means of which an optimal distribution of u
sers and the resources of virtual networks with respect to authentication s
ervers may be found. The method is constructed on the basis of an exponenti
al closed stochastic network and is implemented as a problem of nonlinear p
rogramming with pseudo-Boolean variables. An algorithm describing the opera
tion of a distributed authentication system based on the solution of an opt
imization problem is presented.
