Pp. Kulkarni et al., Hydrodechlorination of dichlorodifluoromethane on carbon-supported Group VIII noble metal catalysts, CATAL LETT, 61(3-4), 1999, pp. 161-166
Activated carbon-supported Group VIII noble metals formed CF2Cl2 oligomeriz
ation products under hydrodechlorination conditions. All the catalysts unde
rwent deactivation during first 15-20 h on stream at 250 degrees C independ
ent of the H-2 partial pressure, with steady-state activity following the o
rder: Pt > Pd >> Ir > Ru approximate to Os approximate to Rh. The Pd/C cata
lyst exhibited high selectivity toward C-2-C-3 hydrocarbons (similar to 75%
at CF2Cl2/H-2= 1). For the other catalysts except Pt, CF2=CF2 and CH2=CF2
were the main C2+ products.
