Abstract
The first heterobimetallic organolanthanide complex containing two differen t rare earth elements, [Yb(thf)(6)][Ce- (cot''')(2)](2) 2 [cot''' = eta(8)- 1,3,6-(Me3Si)(3)C8H5], has been prepared by reacting neutral [Ce(cot''')(2) ] with Yb metal in THF; the crystal structure of 2 consists of separated [Y b(thf)(6)](2+) and [Ce(cot''')(2)](-) ions.
