Abstract
Reaction of syn-B18H22 with metabisulfite gives a good yield of the first s ingle-sulfur macropolyhedral thiaborane, the [SB17H19](-) anion, which exhi bits the unusual arachno-nido two-borons-in-common cluster fusion mode.
