Mh. Korhonen et al., A new method with general diagnostic utility for the calculation of immunoglobulin G avidity, CL DIAG LAB, 6(5), 1999, pp. 725-728
The reference method for immunoglobulin G (IgG) avidity determination inclu
des reagent-consuming serum titration. Aiming at better IgG avidity diagnos
tics, we applied a logistic model for the reproduction of antibody titratio
n curves. This method was tested with well-characterized serum panels for c
ytomegalovirus, EpsteinBarr virus, rubella virus, parvovirus B19, and Toxop
lasma gondii. This approach for IgG avidity calculation is generally applic
able and attains the diagnostic performance of the reference method while b
eing less laborious and twice as cost-effective.
