Abstract
This paper presents the extension of the PEM scheme for the case of multidi mensional wave problems. This is done on the basis of operator splitting an d the PEM scheme for the one-dimensional wave equation given in the previou s publication (V. Zalizniak, Commun. Numer. Meth. Engrg. 13 (3) (1997) 163- 171). Numerical results for two problems of wave propagation in comparison with the analytical solutions are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. for elastodynamics.
