Genomic cloning and chromosomal localization of the mouse Mab21I2 locus

A second mouse gene related to the nematode mab-21 gene has been isolated. This gene, Mab21l2, encodes a transcript with an open reading frame discret ely organized in a single exon. It shares 93.3% and 55.5% amino acid identi ty with the human and worm mab-21 respectively. FISH analysis determined th at this gene is on chromosome 3 at a position between bands 3E3 and 3F1. Th is newly identified mouse gene will be useful in future examination of mab- 21 gene function in vertebrate models.
