Electrochemical sodium insertion in the low-temperature spinel oxide Mn2.2C
o0.27O4 is investigated. Chronopotentiometric measurements show one single-
reduction process located at 2.7 V with a faradaic yield of similar to 1 fa
raday per mole of oxide for a 1.5 V cutoff voltage. During cycling experime
nts performed at discharge-charge rates of C/8, a practical specific capaci
ty of 95 Ah/kg was obtained after the fifth cycle. (C) 1999 The Electrochem
