Abstract
Implementation and experimental test results of a Neural Adaptive Power Sys tem Stabilizes (NAPSS) are presented in this paper. The digital control sys tem is composed of a micro-alternator, a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC ) acting as AVR, a data acquisition system, a PC-based Man-Machine-Interfac e (MMI) routine and a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) board as the controlle r. The proposed NAPSS has been tested for a variety of operating conditions and disturbances. A digital-type conventional stabilizer has also been imp lemented in the same environment for comparison purposes. Results of the la boratory studies show that the proposed NAPSS effectively damps low frequen cy oscillations and improves power system stability.
