Abstract
Under certain conditions, stress corrosion cracking can cause catastro phic failure of steam turbine discs. Nuclear Electric has developed a range of inspection techniques for disc keyways, bores, buttons and bl ade attachments and has accumulated substantial experience on their us e on plant. This paper gives examples of the techniques used and discu ssed the strengths and weaknesses of the techniques applied.
