Abstract
This study concerns the effects that occur in a spray produced by Electrohy drodynamic Atomization in the Cone-Jet mode. Droplet sizes and velocities w ere measured at various places in the spray. These results are compared to the dispersion calculated with a physical model. The model takes the drag f orce, electric forces, and the droplet inertia into account. The results sh ow the electrical interactions between the charged droplets. They also show an acceleration of the gas in the center of the spray. A relation between droplet size and droplet charge in a spray could be established. The result s of the model confirm that the mutual electric interaction of charged drop lets, and differences in inertia, are the reason for the size segregation e ffect in the spray.
