Sl. Dai et al., Effect of secondary phase particles on postrecrystallization grain growth in reactive spray deposited 5083 Al alloys, J MATER RES, 14(7), 1999, pp. 2814-2823
Grain growth behavior in reactive spray deposited Al-Mg-Mn alloy 5083 and 5
083 + Zr was quantitatively studied at 500, 530, and 560 degrees C. Results
show that reactive spray deposited 5083 processed using N-2-5% O-2, in whi
ch no significant volume fraction of oxide particles was found, experienced
significant grain growth when annealed at 500, 530, and 560 degrees C foll
owing recrystallization. On the other hand, reactive spray deposited 5083 a
tomized with N-2-10% O-2 and 5083 + Zr atomized with N-2-5% O-2 exhibited v
ery slow grain growth below 530 degrees C and limited grain growth at 560 d
egrees C. This behavior is attributed to the retardation effect of the seco
ndary phase particles that were formed in these alloys.
