The method of integral transform actions is used to solve the problem of th
e explosion of a cylindrical charge in a rock mass when the charge is locat
ed near the free surface. Angular diagrams are obtained to describe the dis
tribution of the velocities of the surface displacements upon the arrival o
f longitudinal and transverse waves. A formula is proposed to determine mas
s velocity at the front of the blast wave on the basis of data recorded on
the free surface.
