The recrystallization texture of silver electrodeposits obtained from cyani
de bath?, containing no additive were investigated. The textures of as-depo
sited and recrystallized specimens were determined from thr: pole figures,
from which orientation distribution functions and inverse pole figures were
calculated. The orientation components of experimentally determined textur
es were quantified using the Gauss distribution of ideal orientation compon
ents. The (111) + (115)(T), (100) + (221)(I), and (112) + (127)(T), (113) (557)(T), deposition textures changed to the same (100) + (221)(T) recryst
allization texture when the specimens were annealed. where subscript T deno
tes the twin component of the preceding orientation. The(110) deposition te
xtures changed to the (root 310) recrystallization with its twin components
. The evolution of recrystallization textures has been explained by the str
ain energy release maximization model, in which the absolute maximum intern
al stress direction in electrodeposits, sits due to dislocations becomes par
allel to the minimum elastic modulus direction of recrystallized grains, wh
ereby the strain energy release of the material can be maximized. (C) 1999
