Abstract
We investigated the operation characteristics of intracavity frequency doub ling from a diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser with a KTP crystal in the acoustoopti c (AO) Q-switching mode. By using a Nd:YAG rod (phi 3 x 45 mm(2)), we obtai ned 22-W green light at a diode pump power of 180 W with a V-folded resonat or, which corresponded to an optical-to-optical efficiency of 12 %. The con version efficiency reached about 70 %, and the power of the green light was nearly constant as a function of the Q-switching frequency. The beam quali ty factor M-2 Of the green beam was measured to be about 25.
