Abstract
This paper describes the implementation of a case-based reasoning (CBR) sys tem to support heating ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) sale s staff operating in remote locations. The system operates on the world wid e web and uses the new standard of XML as a communications protocol between client and server side Java applets. The paper also describes the motivati on for the system, its implementation, trial and roll-out detailing the ben efits it has provided to the company. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
